How We Score Cities
Complete transparency. Every number explained.
The 7 Factors
We evaluate every city on seven factors that matter most to parents with strollers. Terrain and Slopes get 20% each because they're deal-breakers — a hilly city with cobblestones can make stroller travel miserable regardless of other factors.
Terrain
20%Surface quality — smooth sidewalks vs. cobblestones, potholes, or broken pavement. How much will your stroller rattle and your arms ache?
Slopes
20%Hilliness — flat cities score high, San Francisco-style hills score low. Slopes are a deal-breaker with a loaded stroller.
Transit
12%Public transport accessibility — can you actually get on a bus or train with a stroller? Are there ramps, wide doors, designated spaces?
Elevators
12%Elevator availability and reliability at transit stations, malls, and public buildings. Stairs with a stroller are a parent's nightmare.
Facilities
12%Parent infrastructure — changing tables, nursing rooms, family restrooms, stroller parking. The things that make or break your day.
Crowding
12%How manageable are crowds? Can you navigate with a stroller without constant battles? Tourist hotspot congestion matters here.
Friendliness
12%Local attitude toward families with strollers. Will people help, ignore, or get annoyed? Cultural acceptance of children in public spaces.
The Formula
Each factor is scored 1-10, then the weighted total is scaled to 0-100.
